Prior to taking the challenge of setting up Canapé & Bubbles with Rob Clayton (Food Director), Steven was involved in some of the top corporate, celebrity and social events in the UK. Recently, he spent two years working as Business Development & Operations Manager at the Hinds Head in Bray for Heston Blumenthal, one of the world’s most influential chefs.
PHILOSOPHY
Steven prides himself on the knowledge that you don’t always need a bottomless budget to produce an amazing party or event. In his opinion, all you need is vision.
Having spent six years as a high profile event manager, operationally supporting events such as The Brits, The FA Cup, World Travel Market, Farnborough & Paris Air Shows, Silverstone, Hampton Court Flower Show and the International Boat Show, vision is certainly something Steven can claim to have in sack loads.
Renowned in the industry for quality and his passion to deliver that all important ‘wow factor’, he and his team go out of their way to cater for every client’s need.
Rob, originally from the North but now living in Bath, started his career working for Anthony Worrall-Thompson at Ménage a Tois. He then moved to Nico Ladenis at Heath Lodge and Rochester Row and Chez Nico.
Rob says “Nico has been the most influential and supportive person in my career and I still use the knowledge I gained from working for him in creating my dishes today”.
Leaving London he moved to Hunstrete House Hotel in Bath where, as head chef, he secured a Michelin star in 1995. In 1997 he moved to the Priory Hotel in Bath where once again in 1998, he was awarded another Michelin star.
Rob’s enthusiasm for good food and stunning presentation shows in dishes such as Pan roasted Diver Caught Scallops with a Puree of Butternut Squash & Roasted Slow Cooked Belly of Pork. Where possible produce is sourced locally but allways from the best suppliers.
Steven & Rob formed Canape & Bubbles with a view to providing fabulous sociable food to the Private Catering & Hospitality sector.
